Welcome to babiesny.com. This website began in January, 2009. BABIESNY stands for Birth And Breastfeeding Information, Education and Support of New York.

My interest in childbirth and breastfeeding began in 1976 with the birth of my first child, a daughter, Jessica. Using the Lamaze method of childbirth for my daughter and son, Ian, 3 years later, I became interested in childbirth and have been a maternity nurse since that time. I became a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE) in 1981 after two years of preparation. I had a third child, another son, Michael, in 1987. and then was in graduate school for Parent/Child nursing and graduated in 1990. It was there I learned about a new field of lactation consulting from one of my professors and fulfilled my requirements to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 1991.
Why prepare for birth?
Birth preparation empowers women and their families to be active participants in the birth process. By having information, education, and support, women and their families are able to make decisions in the best interest of their babies in collaboration with their health care providers.
Why prepare for breastfeeding?
Breastfeeding preparation enables mothers to provide the best start in life for their children. Breastfeeding information and education enables women and their families to have a successful breastfeeding experience. Ongoing support is also an important aspect of nurturing your children.
My services include classes in childbirth preparation, either group or private lessons, breastfeeding classes, private lactation consultations in your home, and referrals to support groups in the area or online.
